Scoop Response plot

The Scoop has volume output comparable to two speakers in one box. The rear waves from the speaker cone are augmented and mechanically amplified. So speaker output is actually doubled without also having to double the number of amplifiers. The design costs more and is more difficult to make but the output makes it worth the expenditure.

This design was originally copied from published drawings and specifications but actual performance necessitated numerous improvements to horn design registering in greater efficiency and output. Panels are fully supported and braced to prevent vibration thereby permitting the speaker energy to vibrate the air and not the box.

This unit is easily maneuvered by one person and, two persons can carry this cab up and down steps with no problem.

Bass reflex (ported) boxes do not have the bass output of this design.

The useable range here is from 50-250Hz. The horn loaded rear of the woofer is responsible for the majority of the bass output while the front compliments the upper range. Floor placement additionally augments the bass output as well as many cabs placed together.
